Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a highly talented Project Controls Planning & Scheduling Analyst to be based out of our Morrisville, NC office.

Job Description:

Report to the Project Controls Manager on a regular basis and produce project schedules production and assist with project cost control for schedules and in accordance with the Upgrade and Repair Projects Organization and Management Standard. Scheduler will work with all Project Managers to produce Monthly Production Progress Schedules and Cost Forecasts.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Develops fundamental knowledge of planning and scheduling concepts and principles including effects on financial performance.

  • Develops familiarity with data sources for schedule development.

  • Ability to identify and investigate project schedule variance.

  • Collects data and updates and produces scheduling reports.

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of work breakdown structures (WBS).

  • Develops familiarity with construction drawings, specifications and construction contracting.

  • Possesses a fundamental understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling. Able to review and understand engineering, procurement and construction schedule logic

  • Assists in assembling data for schedule updating.

  • Assists in the measurement of project schedule progress

  • Develops knowledge of scope control, change management and earned value methodology.

  • Supports data gathering and produces an initial analysis for schedule baseline development and maintenance data gathering.

  • Exposure to basic scheduling and cost baseline fundamentals, concepts and principles.

SKILLS: This will require an effective communicator to be able to work with Project Control Manager, Project Managers, Project Personnel, It will also take an experienced Project Scheduler who is familiar with construction and repair work.

SUPERVISION: Work flow comes from a variety of sources. Operations may request assistance with a TIA/ modification schedule or cost estimate. Project Controls Manager will be the primary source for work assignments. Work is reviewed by the Executive VP of Operations before distribution. Work product will be widely distributed within the organization for further review and approval to proceed.

INGENUITY: Must have the ability to produce schedules which graphically show the progression and interdependence of the project tasks to provide Management with a clear picture of what the project schedule will look like from the initial order to the execution and close out of the project.

DECISION MAKING: Work product can affect the entire company – the quality of the schedules produced will have a direct impact on whether a project will go forward or be stopped and recycled at each of the Stage Gates.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field and 4 years of direct industry and/or construction experience in planning/scheduling and/or estimating or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must have experience working in Production or Field Site working as an Estimator or Scheduler.

  • Proficient in computerized scheduling programs (MS Projects and Primavera)

  • Intermediate skills in MS Excel

Minimum Requirements Equivalencies:

  • AA/AS and 6 years of related experience as listed above

  • High School Diploma/GED and 8 years of related experience as listed above

Preferred Qualifications

  • PPI / PPM and/or Construction Management experience

  • Previous experience working with government clients; for example USACE, NAVFAC, or USAF
