The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Water/Wastewater Project Manager/Technical Leader, who will also serve as a Client Services Manager, with a focus in water/wastewater infrastructure design, with in-depth design engineering experience in municipal public right-of-way conveyance and pumping systems, for immediate employment in our Morrisville, NC office (Raleigh area). This practice leadership role within AECOM offers an exciting opportunity to focus on a mix of client business growth, project delivery leadership and mentoring of developing engineering staff by leveraging top notch regional and national water/wastewater engineering expertise and capabilities to expand AECOM’s Raleigh area business. The appropriately qualified applicant will be a seller/doer and have the opportunity to manage and work with an established team of professional engineers on a variety of water, wastewater, and storm water design projects including collection and distribution pipelines, pumping stations, water/wastewater treatment facilities, and storage systems.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work with senior members of our Water Business Line team to seek new municipal business opportunities and develop/lead winning teams
Manages projects, including scoping, task management, invoicing and final closeout. Plans, schedules, conducts and/or coordinates detailed phases of engineering work of a major project, or several small-moderate scope projects.
Supervises and mentors junior staff – with a focus on water/wastewater conveyance
Planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services and will include activities focused on design of municipal water/wastewater conveyance and pumping projects
Communicates project tasks between offices – high level of coordination and communication skills required.
Makes technical presentations
Responsibilities may include overseeing the planning and design of various project elements, the preparation of project reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and documents for inclusion in the final project deliverables as necessary for the bidding and construction of designed works
Overseeing construction phase engineering services
Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public will be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives
The role will provide an exciting opportunity to lead and grow an existing municipal conveyance practice.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering- preferably Civil or Environmental
10+ years of progressive experience in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure engineering design, assessment and rehabilitation with particular strength in public right-of-way conveyance and pumping systems
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer
Proven leadership skills and demonstrated ability to successfully manage diverse teams.
Demonstrated project management experience including delivering projects successfully, on time and on budget
Experience in preparation of engineering proposals for submission to clients.
Capable of leading/conducting business development activities, pursuing new clients/projects, and serving as project manager on project deliveries.
Must have a proven track record of leading technical engineering and successfully managing water and wastewater projects, resulting in securing additional projects from clients
Must have a valid driver's license
Occasional business travel of one to three days per month may be required
15+ years of progressive experience in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure engineering design, assessment and rehabilitation with particular strength in public right-of-way conveyance and pumping systems
Experience in managing and/or delivering projects by “alternative delivery” approaches a plus (design/build, progressive design/build, construction management at risk, etc.)
Experience mentoring or supervising other engineering professionals.
Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse audience groups including clients, the public, regulatory staff, subconsultants and internal technical staff
