The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a talented and highly motivated Water/Wastewater Office Leader and Client Services Manager to lead and grow an existing, diverse water engineering team. This individual will take over leadership of AECOM’s Raleigh area water infrastructure team, which is comprised of three practice groups: Municipal, Federal/Department of Defense, and Risk and Resilience. These groups market and deliver water, wastewater, and stormwater engineering, regulatory compliance, planning, design, and construction phase services to a diverse group of local, regional, and national clients. This is an exciting opportunity to assume leadership of a strong existing team and client portfolio, and to collaborate regionally and nationally within the AECOM Water Business Line and across business lines.
The appropriately qualified applicant will have a strong technical foundation in water/wastewater engineering with in-depth design engineering experience in municipal public right-of-way conveyance and pumping systems. The applicant shall also exhibit demonstrated skills and experience in leadership, strategic planning, client development and management, collaboration, team building, and mentoring. In addition to operations leadership and client management, the selected candidate will be a Seller/Doer project manager and provide technical leadership in the area of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure design.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead strategic planning, business development, and business operations for the Raleigh water infrastructure team.
Collaborate with regional and national AECOM experts in the Water Business Line and across business lines to bring cutting edge solutions to our clients.
Lead client engagement activities and leverage local, regional, and national AECOM experts to grow workload and market share.
Plan and deliver strategic growth and execution by the Office Water Team, meeting operational and business development KPI’s (including new business bookings, staff utilization, project margins, and cash flow).
Work with senior technical staff and marketing staff to deliver winning proposals.
Serve as Client Services Manager for select clients.
Conduct planning and staff meetings.
Oversee the successful delivery of technical work.
Serve as Seller/Doer, Project Manager, and technical lead for the planning, design, and construction of water/wastewater conveyance and pumping projects, including new construction, rehabilitation/renewal, and public right-of-way utility relocation.
Oversee project elements including reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and construction phase engineering services.
Perform project management activities including coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies; scope, schedule, and budget development; project team coordination; interdisciplinary coordination; budget and schedule tracking; invoicing; and payment of subconsultants and contractors.

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field.
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer
8+ years of progressive water/wastewater engineering experience including the planning, design, and construction of municipal water/wastewater conveyance and pumping projects, including new construction in public right-of-way, rehabilitation/renewal, and public right-of-way utility relocation.
Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to successfully manage diverse teams.
Demonstrated experience with client relationship development, prepositioning for new opportunities, and preparing winning engineering proposals.
Strong project management fundamentals and a proven track record of providing technical leadership to successfully deliver water and wastewater projects
Experience supervising other engineering professionals, and strong staff development and management skills.
Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse audience groups including clients, the public, regulatory staff, subconsultants, and internal technical staff.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Occasional business travel of one to three days per month may be required.
15+ years of progressive water/wastewater engineering experience including the planning, design, and construction of municipal water/wastewater conveyance and pumping projects, including new construction in public right-of-way, rehabilitation/renewal, and public right-of-way utility relocation.
Experience in managing and/or delivering projects by “alternative delivery” approaches including design/build, progressive design/build, and construction management at risk.
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in NC or be able to obtain licensure through reciprocity within 6 months.
