AECOM is seeking a night shift industrial Wastewater Treatment Operator 2 for our industrial facility maintenance team in Mossville, IL!
Typical work hours are 5:00pm – 5:00am; hours may vary based on business demand.
This position works 12-hour shifts on a schedule rotation of 2 days on and 2 days off; 2 days on and 3 days off; 2 days on, 2 days off; and 1 day on for a 2-week pay period.
The Wastewater Treatment Operator 2 is responsible for assisting higher level technicians in operating, adjusting, and cleaning process treatment equipment; lab testing waste streams ; performing general maintenance of equipment such as lubrication and filter changes; safe handling and transfer of chemicals and waste streams, and general housekeeping.
Qualified candidates who are offered a position must be able to obtain an Illinois Class K Operators License within 6 months of hire.
Assists the team in operating and maintaining the industrial wastewater treatment plant.
Follows procedures regarding cleaning, equipment use, maintenance, calibration, and safe handling of chemicals.
Collects samples and conducts the in-plant tests necessary to control and monitor treatment facility processes and operation
Performs in-plant operational control tests and process calculations , using various analytical instruments and mathematical calculations.
Records in-plant test results, various meter readings, gauge reading, flow quantiti es and other technical data.
Performs in-plant maintenance according to the schedules and procedures established for the facilities to which assigned. This includes cleaning, servicing, lubricating and repairing pumps, chemical feed equipment, electrical/ mechanical devices regularly found in water, wastewater and industrial wastewater treatment facilities.
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
Demonstrates attention to detail, good comprehensive and analytical skills, and excellent organizational skills.
Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment, yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.

High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Two years of experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial environment or in water / wastewater treatment , or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to obtain IL Class K Operators License within 6 months of employment
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to piping color-coding.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Knowledge of and certification in water/wastewater systems.
Experience with computer control systems.
Knowledge of water / wastewater systems maintenance.
Ability to work proficiently on a PC performing e-mail functions, documentation, and reporting using MS Office programs
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, including applying proper safety practices and following procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
Experience with Clarification and Dissolved Air Flotatation.
Knowledge of sanitary treatment processes, including Lagoons and Activated Sludge.
Experience with a Scadaware Process Control Program.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
