The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting and analyzing various aviation studies

  • Documenting existing facility conditions

  • Forecasting aviation demand

  • Providing recommendations to improve existing facilities

  • Proposing and developing plans for improving efficiency

  • Presenting data and recommendations to clients and governing bodies

  • May work on airport master plans, airport layout plans and associated drawings, feasibility studies, geometry studies, land use planning studies, airspace analysis, and public involvement and outreach activities

  • Manages complex planning studies, development applications and reviews.

  • Reviews and processes complex comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, annexations, site plans and plats.

  • Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use, physical, social and economic issues.

  • Provides professional planning assistance to member communities on varied land use and transportation projects.

  • Develops plans, studies and analyses on regional basis.

  • Works in regional program areas relating to natural/water resources planning, community development, hazard mitigation, coastal zone management, and others.

  • Performs field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans.

  • Conducts meetings and presents reports and other findings to staff with advisory boards and elected officials.

Strong written and communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work collaborative in a fast paced team environment

  • Ability to manage tasks and lead/mentor technical staff

  • Study presentations to client and stakeholders

  • Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities and deadlines

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • 5+ years relevant experience

  • Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars and Orders, guidelines and regulations

  • Familiarity with developing Airport Master Plans and the Master Plan process

  • AutoCAD experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management experience

  • GIS software experience

  • Business development experience or a desire to grow /develop these skills

  • USDOT pilot certificate or flight experience
