AECOM Water Resources Engineer in New Orleans, Louisiana

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer with a focus on surface water modeling in water resources based in our New Orleans, LA office to provide civil engineering and design services for large water infrastructure projects. This position will involve working with a multidisciplinary team of civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, environmental engineers, geologists and environmental scientists, under the supervision and responsible charge of a Registered Professional Engineer, to plan, design, analyze, and construct large water infrastructure projects.

With more than 3,200 Water professionals in all major markets throughout the United States and Canada, AECOM’s Water business line leverages nearly a century of local, national and international project experience to provide today’s municipalities, industries and governments with cost-effective solutions to their Water challenges. We deliver our services—from environmental planning studies to detailed design, construction management, and operations and maintenance—to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Our public sector work encompasses everything from small rural communities, to large urban centers, to agencies with regional responsibilities. Examples of specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of engineering-related calculations and analyses

  • Preparation of technical studies, technical memoranda, and reports

  • Performance of hydraulic modeling for river, drainage, and conveyance systems

  • Development and evaluation of 3D models for large civil design projects

  • Preparation of engineering plans and specifications for construction

  • Conducting and documenting site visits and field investigations

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field from an accredited university

  • EIT registration or equivalent

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in Civil engineering or related engineering field

  • Demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Demonstrated proficiency in industry standard computer software such as CADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, AutoCAD, GIS, and others

  • Louisiana PE registration (or ability to obtain within 2 years)

  • Advanced Degree in Civil Engineering
