AECOM is currently seeking a Construction Manager/Senior Construction Engineer to perform Design Services During Construction (DSDC) for the Water Business Line for a large, multi-disciplinary construction project located across Hoboken, Weehawken, and Jersey City, New Jersey. The position is full-time at the construction project site during normal construction hours; however, some night and weekend work will be required. The selected candidate will interact daily with the client and the construction management firm (CMF), working with an in-office Project Engineer, and reporting directly to the Project Manager.

The responsibilities of the Construction Manager include, but are not limited to:
Construction Project Management (e.g. project progress reports, project team coordination for all construction submittals, direct client and CMF coordination, timely delivery of responses to all construction submittals, RFI’s, RFC’s, CO’s, etc.)
QA/QC reviews and compliance
Function as AECOM’s Onsite Safety Officer (will be trained upon hiring);
Work with CMF and Construction Contractor in expediting solutions to technical field problems
Review all construction submittals
Coordinate directly with Lead Design Engineer and Design Team discipline leads on all design changes and construction submittals
Participate in the negotiation of change orders specific to design changes
Notification to the CMF of any observed work that does not conform to the requirements of the contract documents; and
Participate in and document all construction meetings onsite (e.g. daily tailgate/safety meetings, weekly construction meetings, etc.).
Bachelor's degree in engineering or another related field
Minimum of eight (8) years’ professional experience in the design and/or construction engineering fields
Certified Construction Manager OR Professional Engineer (PE)
Have supervised two (2) completed construction projects in the field, including the following:
Minimum of $50 million construction value for each project
Held a lead role (e.g. Lead Technical Engineer/Project Manager/Engineer-of-Record/Construction Manager) on at least one (1) of the two (2) projects; and
Supervised construction related to horizontal infrastructure (i.e. installation of piles, reinforced concrete, pipes and related appurtenances, dewatering, etc.) in a dense urban environment on at least one (1) of the two (2) projects
Strong knowledge of applicable codes and regulations
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the design and/or construction engineering fields, specifically related to engineering design services during construction
Professional Engineer (PE) with ability to obtain New Jersey PE license within six (6) months of hire
Ability to work in teams, respond to changing demands, be decisive under pressure, and can remain calm when interfacing with internal and external personnel
Experience in construction contract administration and/or management
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Construction cost estimating experience
