Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Senior Project Architect for immediate employment in the Buildings + Places NY Metro Interiors group of our New York City office. The candidate will possess technical expertise in the design and implementation of specialized labs in market industries such as life sciences, pharmaceutical, and education.

Position Overview:

The Senior Project Architect works directly with the AECOM Program Manager and Owner/Client/Stakeholders to ensure project and program objectives are met. The successful candidate will demonstrate an affinity for maintaining and delivering multiple projects on time and within budget while establishing and maintaining excellent client relations. As part of a team, the manager will oversee the successful delivery of simultaneous project initiation, planning, design and construction projects related to the Owner's design and construction programs including commercial and lab interior fit-outs and new construction. Coordination with the client and contractor during construction will also be required. The manager will be responsible for the overall quality of work with program, project and task level financial accountability.

  • Serves as the professional specialist for the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes for an assigned area of responsibility. Is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance on their professional interpretations and technical knowledge.

  • Is a recognized leader and authority in a broad area of specialization or in a narrow, but highly specialized field

  • Is responsible for the architectural program when the program is of limited complexity and scope, or plans and coordinates detailed phases of a major program

  • Provides support and leadership to others in achieving the technical objectives of the overall work effort.

  • Regularly called upon as a key expert in business development pursuits.

  • Consults clients and makes recommendations to overall senior project leadership as a key liaison across teams. are met

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work directly with Owner/Stakeholders to verify project objectives are met

  • Manage project/program activities and multiple priorities.

  • Consistently coordinates with AECOM resources and Owner consultants to deliver design and construction projects

  • Manage daily staff assignments and participate in staffing meetings

  • Work closely with AECOM senior leadership through consistent communication, escalating important Owner/deliver issues.

  • Analyze, monitor projects and program and prepare cost exposure reports and cash flow projections, maintaining comprehensive budgets, monitoring and maintaining schedules

  • Responsible for establishing project execution plans and implementing AECOM quality standards

  • During the design management process, prepares estimates and value engineering analysis, peer reviews, and constructability reviews

  • Manage the preparation of periodic reports, and prepare monthly reports that discuss, in detail, the status of the project/program

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related field

  • 8+ years of architectural experience covering all aspects of building design or program management –concept, survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • License in either Architecture or Engineering

  • Master's Degree in Architecture or closely related field

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, highly motivated, and detail-oriented with a strong background managing complex client development programs

  • Well organized and adept at multi-tasking working with master agreements and multiple task orders

  • Strong knowledge of American Disabilities Act/American Barriers Act

  • Management experience on BIM projects highly desirable

  • Experience working in large and complex projects

  • Experience with government agencies/projects

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; candidate will be required to document and present work in a clear and concise manner

  • Excellent technical and relationship building skills are required

  • Able to work well with clients, staff, and consultants
