Job Description
AECOM Aviation team seeks an Aviation Department Manager within the NY Metro Aviation Department. The Aviation Department Manager will manage a group of Engineers, Construction Managers, Planners and support staff to deliver ongoing projects and future projects. Additionally, they will mentor junior civil engineers and serve as the Aviation Group’s Senior Technical Advisor. The focus of this role will be mainly centered on aviation projects and include airport pavement design, lighting, design of airport runway, taxiway, and site development along with aviation project management. Additional focus will be on airside work elements that include apron, taxi lane, hardstand and terminal pavements, aircraft utility connections, security fencing & blast wall, airfield access points.

Primary functions will include, but are not limited to the following:
Supports, oversees and coordinates engineering production activities for an operating unit.
Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.
Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, the individual will have demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.
Demonstrates mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual operations problems, determining operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse aviation engineering activities.
Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Acts as senior technical resource and QA/QC Discipline Lead
Develops Performance Reviews, recommend promotions, develop career development plans
Grows the NY Metro Aviation Team to deliver existing and future projects
Supports the Business Development Team for RFQs and RFPs.
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Prepares technical specification sections.
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering + 10 years of experience as an Aviation Designer with experience in apron, taxiway and runway design. or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Demonstrated experience in Management of Staff
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of New York or New Jersey
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Civil Engineering
Diverse portfolio of aviation design experience on small, mid, and large-scale projects/programs

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $180,000.00 - $250,000.00.
