Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly qualified Bridge Inspection Assistant Team Lead for immediate placement in the New York Metro area (AECOM's East Region) to join our Transportation Structural Engineering/Bridge Team. This critical role offers significant opportunities for professional growth and development within our organization.

The incumbent will be entrusted with the following crucial responsibilities:

  • Conduct rigorous field inspections in strict accordance with the requirements outlined in the NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Manual, under the direct supervision of a Team Leader.

  • Meticulously prepare comprehensive inspection and flag reports, ensuring all details are accurately documented.

  • Oversee and manage access equipment vendors, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational efficiency.

  • Execute thorough quality control reviews of work produced by team members, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and completeness.

  • Contribute substantively to the development of technical proposals, leveraging expertise to enhance the competitiveness of our bids.

  • Provide precise estimates for engineering budgets and schedules, crucial for project planning and resource allocation.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering plus 4 years of related bridge inspection experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid US Driver's License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years of proven inspection experience

  • Long span bridge inspection experience

  • Ability to receive NY PE license within one year

  • The candidate shall also have taken the NHI Course No. 130053 Bridge Inspection Refresher when required

  • In addition, the candidate shall have experience performing field coordination and coordination with vendors and clients

  • Must be able to work at heights, on ladders, on scaffolding and on aerial lifts, or other bridge inspection access equipment, must be able to climb, work in confined spaces, and be able to work under adverse weather conditions

  • Must have a working knowledge of personal computers in Windows environment

  • Fully conversant with the NYSDOT inspection and load rating software

  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam

  • Completion of the 2-week NHI Course No. 130055 “Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges”, OR the 5-day NHI Course No. 130056 “Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers”

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $115,000.00.
