Job Description
AECOM has an opening for a Carbon Analytics and Simulation Lead to join our Digital Solutions team and work closely with our Innovation Laboratory team to support our growing decarbonization innovation as a service initiative across our business. At AECOM, we are working towards a Net Zero carbon emissions future through research and innovation, focusing on developing smart solutions for our Buildings+Places practice. Through training programs, solutions can be implemented quickly and applied at AECOM’s high-performance and Net-Zero carbon (NZC) projects, expanding our portfolio of future-ready projects that meet our ESG goals and the need to foster climate health. The Innovation Laboratory initiative (iLAB) is AECOM’s research and development studio for Buildings+Places that operates at the intersection of sustainability research, technical innovation, and advanced design solutions. It develops new products and tools as minimum viable prototypes (MVPr) that are to be applied quickly at AECOM’s leading high-performance and Net-Zero carbon projects for immediate results that work towards meeting our company’s ESG goals.
The roles and responsibilities for the Carbon Analytics & Simulation Lead position are:
Manage decarbonization and net zero tools development and delivery on projects
Implement and facilitate iLAB strategies and tools applications
Work on new iLAB and Digital Solutions pursuits, prepare proposals and negotiate with clients
Evaluate current iLAB and Digital Solutions projects' performance and identify ways to expand and grow
Work on the development and execution of Scope X Technical Services
Responsible to developing and leading prototype execution initiatives across the region to help grow the practice
Responsible for providing architectural guidance, calculations, analysis, studies, and recommendations for a specialized segment of the Architectural Discipline within the schedules and budget of an assigned project
May work on modest size projects and/or assist Project Architectural or Engineering Managers with the integration of research and innovation into the project

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
- BA/BS plus six (6) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree preferred in Engineering, Building Sciences, Architecture, or sustainability-related field
Knowledge and experience undertaking WBLCA/ embodied carbon analysis using BIM-based software such as Oneclick LCA, Tally or similar
Experience working with Autodesk Revit in a work shared BIM environment.
Knowledge and experience in working with parametric design workflows (e.g. Dynamo, Grasshopper, etc.)
Understanding of high performance and zero carbon building principles and technologies and definitions of carbon boundaries
Experience of work in the high-performance/ sustainable design sector.
Experience with early stage and detailed building performance analyses including daylight modeling, glare analysis, hygrothermal simulation
Experience in building performance analysis tools such as Ladybug Tools, Diva, WUFI etc.
Experience in graphics software such as InDesign, Illustrator etc.
Experience in building design 3D software such as Revit, Rhino, etc.
Knowledge of building energy codes and standards including ASHRAE 90.1 and Title 24 Part 6
Knowledge of sustainability assessment systems (such as LEED, Green Globes, and BREEAM)
Additional certifications/licenses e.g. ASHRAE BEMP, CEM, LEED AP, ENV SP are a plus
Knowledge of a programming language (python, R, C++, etc.).
Rendering expertise in + VRay + Enscape
Knowledge of sustainability assessment systems (such as LEED, Green Globes, and BREEAM)
Experience in producing and reviewing MEP drawings or architectural Revit models
Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Ability to communicate problems clearly and simply to clients, engineers, and architects
Excellent written, graphical, and verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving, analytical and research skills
Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality. Adaptable and flexible, showing a willingness and ability to take on new projects or areas with or without supervision
Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, and in particular, Excel for data analytics

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $150,000.00.
