Job Summary

AECOM Tishman is seeking a building construction Estimator with life sciences/medical experience to support our iconic construction projects in New York City

Job Description:

  • Works toward alignment of customer and company objectives.

  • Understands estimating terminology and measures and recognizes processes/project actions that may impact the project.

  • Understands construction means, methods, and sequences.

  • Complies with established company policies and procedures and utilizes established systems and tools.

  • Identifies and develops recommendations for improving technical expertise.

  • Develops a basic understanding of each of company’s organizational units.

  • Builds collaborative relationships with other organizations.

  • Exhibits confidence and positive attitude about the project and the Company.

  • Maintains technical performance excellence.

  • Continually strives for the development of new tools and techniques for the purpose of enhancing estimating approaches.

  • Encourages diversity through new processes and tools.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of estimating standards and procedures.

  • Assists in preparing budgets

  • Reviews Estimate Plans

  • Collects, analyzes and archives project data. Develops historical documentation.

Estimating Specific Skills

  • Works with the Company estimating systems and processes.

  • Applies estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles.

  • Recognizes how various processes/project actions and assumptions may impact the project estimates and begin to assist in quantifying the impact.

Technical Skills

  • Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for projects.

  • Performs duties with some complexity under general supervision.

  • Expected to assist in the preparation of larger and more complex estimating assignments including the Estimate Plan.

  • Reads and interprets drawings and specifications.

  • Develops detailed material take-offs for estimate development.

Since 1898, AECOM Tishman has managed the construction of some of the world’s most iconic buildings. We employ a diversified preconstruction and construction management staff of structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers; architects; technology specialists; scheduling and cost control personnel; and construction estimators and accountants. We provide expert consultation and guidance in all phases of a building project, from master-planning, preconstruction options evaluation and decision-making, to design review, estimating, and scheduling, through procurement, construction and occupancy. AECOM Tishman’s staff manages all consultants and contractors on a project, representing client interests throughout the project cycle. In total, AECOM Tishman has built more than 900 million square feet – including the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, One World Trade Center in New York.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant construction estimation experience from the life science/medical construction industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years of progressive construction estimation experience.

  • Experience from life science or medical construction industry STRONGLY PREFERRED.

  • Experience with On Screen Take Off

  • Experience with document control within Estimating Department.

  • Be able to play a lead role in bid solicitations , maintaining master sub list.

  • Assisting with subcontractor calls and bid procurement.

  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing and to work with multi stakeholders

  • Microsoft office experience (Outlook, Excel and Word)
