Job Description

AECOM is hiring a Managing Principal to be based in our NYC office to lead and grow the multi-disciplinary Architecture, Engineering, Interiors, Urbanism + Planning consulting practice. This position should be a NYC industry-recognized market leader with proven client relationships primarily in the public sector and able to position AECOM as a top 3, infrastructure consulting firms in NYC.

The candidate will have a proven track record in business development, client leadership, financial oversight, design quality, and project delivery, and can convey innovative design thinking and solutions.

The responsibilities of role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership for AECOM’s 210 -person B+P practice.

  • Leads the local strategy in assuring that we are building client relationships, strategically pre-positioning, winning, and delivering the largest and most important work in the five-borough region.

  • Responsible for developing and executing the strategic growth plan for their office’s region, including developing and executing client outreach goals, NSR Bookings Goals and major pursuit leadership.

  • Leads the practice and pursuits, collaborating with NYM’s cross-business line leadership.

  • Work in alternate delivery and/or delivering building-infrastructure consulting scopes of work.

  • Will provide Thought and Design leadership on key projects and Programs.

  • Will work with the Operations teams.

  • Together with regional practice leadership and market sector leaders build high-performance design teams – soliciting and managing client feedback to align operations and allocate resources according to strategic priorities, recognizing and unleashing the potential of others by providing the needed environment, resources, coaching, experiences, and other support champions an innovative and collaborative culture.

  • Champions change – makes the AECOM vision understandable, creates buy-in to the vision by linking day-to-day work to the attainment of the vision, and engages and mobilizes others to drive change.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture or related industry degree (Engineer, Interior Designer, or Planner ) + 12 years of related experience and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education with 4 years of demonstrated multi-disciplinary office/practice leadership.

  • Experience leading a P/L for a multi-disciplinary, cross business line practice within the last three years.

  • Experience working for a regional/national construction company leading design/build projects.

  • Demonstrated client relationships and completion of projects in NYC’s largest public agencies such as DDC, EDC, SCA.

  • Experienced in strategic business development, client relationships, and driving sales and revenue.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business.

  • Licensed professional - Architect, Engineer, or Interior Designer with experience working in a National/Regional Construction organization.

  • The ability to support and lead business development activities through early client interaction, “scope of work” development, interviews, and ongoing client maintenance interface.

  • Acted as principal-in-charge of a large/multi-disciplined project /consultant team.

  • Together with Regional Leadership, national Market Sector leaders, Principal-In-Charge and Project Directors, established project scopes, work plans, and work schedules.

  • Successfully delivered projects within the clients’ budget/schedule requirements.

  • Successfully delivered project scope and fee, delivering targeted profit to the firm interfaced with project managers on schedules, project review meetings, issues management, and client expectations.

  • An ability to travel and/or work remotely with teams.

  • A strong desire to train, mentor, and develop staff to grow their careers and the business.

  • 10+ years of experience in the geographic marketplace.

  • Other expertise may include concentrated experience in client markets such as Transportation, Higher Education, Federal, and Cities. Each considered an important market sector to the role.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $290,000.00 - $340,000.00.
