Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineering Discipline Lead for our NY Metro Offices. This person will be leading and developing teams to complete both small and large projects. The responsibilities can include:

  • Serve as a Discipline Leader for our NYM team

  • Complete HVAC designs for projects of all sizes

  • Make major design recommendations and design decisions with little input from senior staff

  • Plan the design work of the mechanical team and delegate assignments to team members

  • Establish staff ‘s goals and annually review staff and conduct Annual Performance Reviews; recommend salary increases

  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, and electrical

  • Act as an adviser and review documents prepared by mechanical team members; performing technical quality reviews and being responsible for the overall Department quality and profitability

  • Develop fee estimates, assist with proposal preparation, and participate in client presentations

  • Meet with clients and maintain good client relations

  • Stay current with the latest design requirements, techniques, tools, and principles

  • Be a leader in the Columbus office and a contributor to it being a great place to work

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) Mechanical Engineering + 12 years of related design experience

  • Professional Engineer license

  • Experience Leading an MEP Engineering Department

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong work experience with an emphasis in HVAC systems and knowledge of energy codes and energy-saving applications

  • Experience scoping and drafting fees for engineering components of interdisciplinary project work

  • Experience in strategic management of an engineering group

  • LEED Associate Professional, familiarity with USGBC LEED Accreditation process

  • Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (NY locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $230,000.
