Job Description

Exciting Traffic Engineer role with AECOM's New York Metro Traffic Engineering team is now available!

The Traffic Engineer will perform and conduct Traffic Planning studies of major infrastructure including highways, streets and transitways. Traffic analysis tasks include:

  • Conducts medium to large scale traffic impact studies

  • Performs data collection, data analysis/cleaning

  • Develops balanced flow diagrams for vehicles, pedestrians and non-motorized transport

  • Performs traffic analysis using industry software (HCS/Synchro/Vissim)

  • Prepares reports of results that supports the development of infrastructure/design improvements

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathering and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Working on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposing approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.

  • Identifying discrepancies in results.

  • Providing guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

  • Independently performing all the tasks necessary to complete primary traffic conceptual design

  • elements for engineering works.

  • Performing at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

  • Additional tasks/duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Engineering plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Traffic or Civil Engineering

  • Familiarity and experience with the following software: HSC/Synchro/Vissim

  • Familiarity and experience with NY and NJ transportation agencies

  • Excellent communications skills written and verbal

  • 8 years of relevant experience in Traffic Engineering

Additional Information

Relocation is not available for this role.

We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States. Permanent residency sponsorship is available for current OPT, F1 or H1-B visa holders in the United States.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $140,000.00.
