AECOM Region Business Line Leader – B+P in New York, New York

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated leader for our New York Metro Area Building + Places business line. The position is located in our New York City office.

This position will report to the New York Metro Executive and be a key member of the East Region Buildings + Places business line leadership team driving strategy, growth and delivery in the New York Metro area, including New Jersey. To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Business Development Return on Investment (BDROI)

  • Profitability of the B+P business line within the New York Metro area and delivery of financial plan including bookings, revenue generation, EBITA, and DSO

  • Provides leadership and supports the B+P leadership team in developing the annual budget and preparing the financial outlook and other financial performance forecasts

  • Provides leadership and supports Market Sector Leaders in developing sales, preparing business development forecasts and opportunity tracking, and effectively assigning business development resources to achieve wins and bookings with appropriate returns on investment

  • Practice Excellence and Performance (P/L) – Delivery of Plan/NSR, EBITA, Billings & Collections and Bookings

  • Core competencies in professional staff development and retention are critical

  • Lead a professional environment for a creative enterprise, built on design and delivery excellence

  • Operations

  • Plans for and directs B+P business line practice management, providing operational, project delivery, and technical leadership which includes: project management and delivery, technical excellence, client satisfaction, quality, safety, resource allocation, and employee development and training

  • Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior level region, business line and technical experts within the company and with other organizations and companies

  • Responsible for the health, safety, and wellbeing of employees and the projects and programs managed

  • Champions the AECOM Safety for Life Program and ensures zero incident techniques are utilized and measured

  • Business Strategy and Development (Win Work)

  • Responsible for sales bookings and top-line growth through opportunity development and capture (execution of strategy)

  • Tracking technical competence, leadership, innovation and industry prominence

  • Client Account Management (CAM) client development and management

  • Business development priorities and resources

  • Market research, intelligence, competitive assessment, investment strategy, geopolitical, civic leadership and presence

  • Champion the AECOM integrated offer to the market

  • Closely engaged with key clients, understanding client needs and expectations that will result in repeat business opportunities

  • Supports the East Region and New York Metro Leadership, Business Line Executives, Market Sector Leaders, Practice Leaders and Account Managers in the pursuit of new business, specifically providing marketing and business development support and intelligence, developing effective capture plans, proposals and bids to procure work

  • Actively participates in professional associations related to the business unit and practice areas of specialization, staying at the forefront of the professional and technical standards, serving as a champion of advancing the profession and developing and recruiting employees in the business unit

  • Supports and collaborates with counterparts in similar business units across the operating group and across business units to grow the top line and gain market share

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or related field + EXTENSIVE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 6 years of leadership

  • 10+ years of experience with five years in a practice leadership role with superior ability to satisfy clients and manage company’s association with them

  • Member of Professional or Technical Society

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Proven record of developing new clients

  • Ability to discern new markets and develop business in those areas

  • Expertise in the practical application of AEIPC principles and technology

  • Ability to perform individually in a competitive environment

  • 15+ years of experience
