AECOM SH&E Training Lead in New York, New York

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a responsive, organized, detailed orientated Safety Training Lead for immediate employment. This position works as part of the corporate Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) team globally to support AECOM’s global operations and applicants can be located anywhere within the United States or Canada. This position reports directly to the Corporate Chief Safety Officer. The Safety Training Lead will ensure the successful execution of the overall SH&E Training program. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Ensuring strategic alignment of the training department with business goals

  • Evaluating individual and organizational performance to ensure training is meeting business needs and improving performance

  • Identifying training needs by consulting with stakeholders (HR, Legal and others) and using needs assessments

  • Regularly reporting to senior leadership on the efficacy, compliance, and status of training

  • Developing and delivering training solutions that meet business needs

  • Optimizing training processes for efficiency

  • Selecting and managing resources, including working with both internal subject matter experts and training vendors to develop and deliver training

  • Managing the technologies and technical personnel required to develop, manage and deliver training

  • Develop course shells, templates, and course structures

  • Manage, review, and edit training content for consistency, look and feel including content structure, graphics, and terminology

  • Recommend new training methods (including e-learning courses and game-based platforms)

  • Directly manage training staff in the Americas and in Manilla

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of traditional and modern training methods (including workshops, simulations, e-learning and coaching)

  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Must be able to motivate others, build teams and maintain forward thinking approach

  • Ability to successfully influence and inspire

  • Able to perform in a fast paced, highly dynamic work environment, prioritize appropriately, and be highly responsive

Level specific responsibilities:

  • Under minimal supervision, responsible for the most complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains expert knowledge of specific government agency requirements.

  • Utilizes advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of environmental principles.

  • Assignments are usually self-initiated.

  • Uses independent judgment and discretion in data analysis and problem resolution.

  • Develops, implements and maintains safety and health programs, systems and procedures.

  • Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.

  • Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.

  • Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment's to minimize hazards.

  • Develops and conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.

  • Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.

  • Prepares reports and recommends corrective action.

  • Work includes technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a project.

  • Acts as a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus 6 years of relevant training and/or SH&E experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience as a Training Lead or similar

  • Experience organizing training activities in a corporate environment

  • Hands-on experience with project management and budgeting

  • Experience in a global organization interacting with multi-national teams

  • Master’s Degree in a related field

  • Experience directly managing training staff

  • Experience with the Adobe suite of products (Storyline, Creator etc)

  • Due to the flexibility of this role to be primarily remote-based from a variety of US and Canada locations, relocation assistance is not available.
