Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented Senior Design Principal for immediate employment in our New York, NY office. This client-facing leadership role will lead a team of architects and designers to deliver interdisciplinary world-class projects for our clients in the sports and entertainment market. The leader will actively drive projects toward successful outcomes, while supporting and fostering a design-focused culture of self-supporting creative teams.

Services include architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism, and planning (inclusive of landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a client-facing leader and Principal in Charge for Sports Practice projects.

  • Mobilizes the design team to craft, evolve, and deliver design solutions.

  • Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.

  • Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.

  • Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of architecture.

  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.

  • Responsible for acting independently on design matters pertaining to the venue construction.

  • Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.

  • Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • Manages group of architects and/or designers, coordinating activities of the unit.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Architecture or related field +8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed/Registered Architect

  • 10+ years of project experience in an architectural firm.

  • Experience in client management/ client leadership

  • Project focus on fan experience

  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite

  • Collegiate and professional sports and recreation design experience

  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures pertinent to transit projects

  • Affinity with developing details and experience in construction documents

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $160,000.00 - $190,000.00.
