AECOM’s Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, business transformation, asset advisory, economics and development planning, master planning, urban planning, and landscape architecture.

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager will be to cultivate and maintain client relationships, oversee and lead multiple projects through all phases of design, and actively lead the design process for each of these clients and opportunities. This individual will work with operations leadership to ensure a coordinated effort to support business development opportunities.

The Senior PM will initially lead projects in the US Federal and Public Safety market sectors with the potential to develop future opportunities in the Commercial, Corporate, Higher Education, and Healthcare market sectors. Collaboration with key leaders in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Interiors, Building Engineering, Economics, and Strategy will be critical. The Senior PM will provide design leadership within the practice across all markets to promote design excellence in collaboration with other disciplines to develop a holistic approach to project delivery. They will also reinforce market recognition through participation in architectural design community, including architectural schools, practice organizations, and civic events. They will also provide day-to-day project leadership on projects from initial business development, proposal and interview to design development, contract documents, and construction administration for multiple projects.

The business development leadership responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Works with Market Sector leaders to identify key project pursuits and actively participates in prepositioning efforts.

  • Maintains understanding of trends, drivers, and delivery methods affecting the marketplace.

  • Develops marketing plans and anticipates opportunities.

  • Builds strong relationships and interacts regularly with clients, teaming partners, and stakeholders linked to the market sector.

  • Works with the National Market Leadership, the Buildings + Places Business Line Executives, and Regional and Marketing leadership to develop the growth and pursuit strategy.

  • Partners with key individuals within AECOM to procure projects including P3 and Design/Build opportunities.

  • Supports business financial goals with adequate number of projects to grow the practice and develop expertise.

  • Collaborates with all B+P offices in pursuing work when a multi-office team is important for the success of the project pursuit.

The direct project responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plans, directs, and supervises all project activities included within the scope of a multi-disciplinary design project.

  • Manages and leads the overall project including technical, financial, and client relationship.

  • Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the design and/or construction management activities and the management of project personnel under her/his direction on a day-to-day basis.

  • Establishes scope, work plan, work schedule, and communicate expectations to Project Staff and Department Managers.

  • Must have a thorough understanding of the responsibilities to both AECOM and the client as set forth by the project contractual agreement.

  • Develops, implements and administers operational procedures, controls and administrative systems necessary to meet contractual obligations.

  • Assures conformance with contractual obligations by ensuring that all specifications, drawings and other work is reviewed and approved prior to release to the client.

  • Establishes an encouraging and collaborative environment for all project teams.

  • Participates in the annual performance review of employees, further developing staff skills and growth through open dialogue.

  • Creates winning operation opportunities and deliver profitable project to the firm.

  • Reports on project status and client experience to Operations leadership and Managing Principal.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or AA/AS (US) + 8 years of relevant experience

  • Must have econometric capabilities, an understanding of commercial real estate and regional markets, familiarity with forecasting, and the ability to work in database and programming environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with profit margins
