Position Title Subject Matter Expert-Technical Security System – Dept of State GSE&SC

This is a contingency posting depending upon successful award of the Department of State Global Security Engineering &Supply Chain contract.
Purpose and Scope:
The SME-Technical Security Systems will have a working knowledge of system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards and operational security measures and develop procedures for responding to security incidents, and for investigating and reporting security violations and incidents to the Information Assurance Manager (IAM) and (Program Security Officer) PSO.
Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with internal security policies and practices outlined in the security plan.
Ensure all users have the requisite security clearances, authorization, and need-to-know, and are aware of their security responsibilities before granting access to the IS.
Initiate with the approval of the IAM (Information Assurance Manager) and Security Officer, protective or corrective measures when a security incident or vulnerability is discovered.
Develop and maintain all SSP (System Security Plan)s/(System Security Authorization Agreement) SSAAs.
Ensure configuration ware, hardware, and management (CM) for security-relevant IS software, hardware, and firmware is maintained and documented.
Ensure that system recovery processes are monitored to ensure that security features and procedures are properly restored.
Ensure all IS security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals.
Ensure that system security requirements are addressed during all phases of the system life cycle.
Follow procedures developed by the ISSM (Information System Security Manager)/(Program Security Officer)PSO, authorizing software, hardware, and firmware use before implementation on systems.
Perform other related or associated duties as required.
- Bachelor's in Information Assurance, Cyber Security, Incident Response, Security Management, or discipline directly related to Cyber Security or equivalent experience and five years of related experience.
