Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Municipal Civil Engineer III position in the Surface Transportation group based in Grand Rapids, Detroit, or Novi, Michigan. This position will work on municipal and MDOT LAP projects around the state.
This position is expected to begin as early as possible.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
elements for engineering works.
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Geometric design of roadways creating horizontal and vertical alignments and models
Preparation of design reports including design study reports, and technical memorandums
Coordination with project stakeholders including clients, the public, utility companies, and permitting agencies.
Working within the Transportation group on the planning and design of civil engineering projects including local roadways, arterials, multi-modal, utility, and drainage improvements.
Collaborating with design teams consisting of multidiscipline design engineers, technicians, and planners
Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member and assist with tasks including preparing designs, reports, engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
5+ years of previous design experience on transportation projects
Professional Engineer (PE)
Experience designing municipal transportation systems
Experience with 3D design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley ORD / Open Roads
MS Office software (Excel, Word, Project) is required
Must be a team player
Additional Information
- Visa assistance is not offered for this role
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $120,000.00.
