Job Description

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Office Technician for immediate employment in the Novi, MI office. This position provides the opportunity to work on large, unique, and complex transportation projects in Michigan and throughout the country.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee administrative duties on all MDOT and federally funded construction projects

  • Ensure project conformance with MDOT specifications, project proposal, and plan sheets

  • Adhere to MDOT filing guidelines with both electronic (ProjectWise) and hard files

  • Coordinate with field staff to ensure timely construction reporting

  • Review Inspector Daily Reports, attachments, and forms for accuracy

  • Utilize MDOT software such as FieldManager and/or AASHTOWare to compile & generate contractor pay estimates, contract modifications, and other construction related reports

  • Communicate with inspectors, contractors, MDOT, and partner consultants

  • Attend meetings as needed

  • Review/oversee all submitted Contractor Payrolls and required documents for all required projects per MDOT/Federal standards

  • Provide notice of delinquent or deficient payrolls to prime contractors according to guidelines in the MDOT Wiki Construction Manual

  • Assist in MDOT interim, final, and prevailing wage project file reviews as needed (travel to on site locations may be necessary)

  • Assist other Office Technician(s) and/or supervisor(s) as necessary

  • Perform administrative duties for the CE&I group

  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent computer skills required including but not limited to spreadsheet creation & manipulation (Excel), word processing, Power Point, and web knowledge

  • Interpersonal, organizational & communication skills required

  • Detail orientated with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently and effectively

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Degree + 2 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must possess valid driver's license and be able to travel as needed

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two year degree or equivalent experience in office setting

  • Ability to work overtime during construction season if needed

  • Proficiency in basic math

  • Current MDOT Office Technician Certification

  • Experience using FieldManager and ProjectWise

  • Familiarity with MDOT and project-specific reference documents (plans/specs, proposals, Construction Manual, Documentation Guide, etc.)
