AECOM is seeking a highly talented Project / Process Engineer to work at a client facility near Oakland, CA. This position is contingent upon contract award with anticipated hire date of January 2019.
The Site Project Engineer is the onsite AECOM representative working with the AECOM site project manager to develop project plans and orchestrate design engineering from initial planning through construction and turnover. This position will liaison with our New Orleans based design teams to develop project scope and act as the design team ears and eyes on site. This person will report directly to the Site Project Manager to lead design work in their assigned facility. This person will coordinate with client engineering and equipment vendors to develop and execute project construction packages identified in the client capital plan, and identify process improvement opportunities.
The Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager and provide technical expertise and leadership in the development of project scope. The Project Engineer will work closely with other professional services providers, owner discipline engineering subject matter experts (SME’s), inspection, operations and maintenance teams to develop and execute work.
Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:
Providing technical oversight of engineering scope during a project design phase and coordination of multidiscipline project engineering teams
Effectively champion and steward project safety, safety in design, environmental requirements, engineering quality, project costs and project schedule
Identify, facilitate and champion appropriate project specific value improving practices (VIP’s)
Effectively champion and steward refinery process safety management (PSM) process and procedures including management of change (MOC), Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) etc.
Learn, oversee and solicit input from subject matter experts (SME’s) as required to ensure project compliance to client’s Design Engineering Practices (DEP’s) as needed, initiate and facilitate deviations.
Ability to author and maintain engineer execution plans to outline scope, cost and schedule progress, costs, forecasts and schedules
Effectively facilitate, coordinate and document review meetings and technical proceedings
Initiates & applies document control procedures
Establish tracking document registers of all documentation relating to the project and facilitate resolution and closure
Execute and facilitate project closure
- Bachelor of Science Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalent combination of experience and education.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in an industrial setting with firsthand knowledge of materials handling equipment (pumps, blowers, heaters, etc)
Demonstrated experience with FEL / FEED development of small projects
Experience with production lines or sequenced batch operations
Demonstrated experience in Cost Reductions through Process Optimization
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft office, excel, word and outlook
Must possess or be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
Previous experience working as an on-site Project Engineer in an industrial facility
