AECOM Coastal Engineer III in Oakland, California
Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a talented and motivated mid-level Coastal Engineer in Arlington, VA, Charleston, SC, Seattle, WA or Oakland, CA office. You will lead projects related to shoreline protection, coastal structures, coastal hazard analyses, hydrodynamic modeling, coastal process analyses, floodplain mapping, and coastal restoration.
You’ll serve as a technical resource as well as directly contribute to the technical delivery of the project deliverables and participate in project decisions regarding technical approach, cost, scheduling, and performance including: planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and coordination of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Data analysis of atmospheric and oceanographic datasets, such as wind, tides, and waves
Calculation of existing and future conditions design water levels in estuarine and coastal environments
Analysis of downscaled climate data (temperature, precipitation, streamflow, etc.)
Mapping of coastal flooding, erosion, and sea level rise hazard zones
Data review and inventory in support of climate vulnerability and adaptation plans

Minimum Requirements
- MS degree or Ph.D. with an emphasis in Coastal, Ocean, or Marine Engineering plus 4+ years of demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered PE or EIT (able to obtain PE in 6 months)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
Programming experience with Matlab, Python.
Experience working with GIS shapefiles, raster datasets, and geodatabases in ArcGIS
Working knowledge of industry software, such as AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, XBeach, CHSORE, DELFT, MIKE, ADCIRC or SWAN models is preferred
Experienced working with a team of engineers and technicians, train/mentor younger staff, and coordinate with client and regulatory agencies.
