Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, highly talented Ecological Risk Assessor for immediate employment in the Oakland, CA office as their preference, but we are willing to consider remote candidates who already reside in the United States.The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented environment. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while working with a team comprised of a variety of staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients. There are opportunities to work on large-scale projects or projects further afield than the typical project range if the candidate is interested.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of planning documents, evaluation reports, and other technical documents summarizing toxicological risk assessment procedures and results.

  • Perform statistical evaluations, exposure and toxicity assessments, and risk characterization for projects governed by state and federal programs.

  • Data management and statistical analysis; data preparation and management such as organizing and summarizing environmental data and their sources.

  • Manage a variety of toxicological risk assessment projects with varying levels of complexity and size, manage scope, schedule, and budget for toxicological risk assessment projects.

  • Applies scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

  • Ability to advance business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients.

  • Provide ecological risk assessment expertise, develop technical approaches, and interact with clients and regulatory agencies.

  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and coaching to new or less experienced staff, and recruit and develop junior risk assessment scientists.

  • Working knowledge of statistical software (e.g., R, ProUCL, etc.).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Ecology, Toxicology, Biology or related field and (8) eight years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 + years of experience directly related to ecological risk evaluations and associated submittal requirements and environmental multi-media environmental regulatory compliance (e.g. CERCLA /Superfund, RCRA, etc.).

  • Participation in developing effective business proposals for providing competitive, high-value environmental services.

  • Ability to perform independently on technical matters pertaining to ecological risk assessment and regulatory compliance with little to no supervision.

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization; and multi-tasking skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands, think strategically, and successfully lead multiple simultaneous projects.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Experience with probabilistic ecological risk assessments, biostatistics, and whole effluent toxicity (WET) testing.

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $90,000.00 - $115,000.00.
