Job Description

AECOM is seeking talented Senior Civil Engineers for our growing Sacramento and Oakland offices as part of Buildings + Places practice.

Responsibilities will include the oversight and management of various project tasks, the development of technical concepts and designs, and the preparation of documents including reports, studies, plans, specifications, and estimates. Projects may include Healthcare facilities, Federal, Science + Tech, High Education, Sports + Rec, Transportation or Infrastructure projects for a range of prospective clients, including state, county, and local agencies as well as private entities.

  • Leads the planning, design, evaluation and review of various tasks in support of project execution.

  • Ability to work well with others within a diverse team environment.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on complex or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests with the ability to solve complex issues with limited direction.

  • Proposes approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.

  • Carries out assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Demonstrates innovation to deliver technical and operational excellence.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance and mentoring to junior level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

  • Collaborates with other disciplines with the ability to make autonomous decisions guided by policies, procedures and business objectives.

  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Demonstrated experience working on site/civil design projects.

  • Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications)

  • Valid US Driver’s License required, as a condition of employment must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State (CA Preferred) or able to register for PE exam within 1 year.

  • 8+ years of experience, in civil engineering and building development projects covering all aspects of building design – survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration.

  • Experience with permitting site/land development projects

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and organizing tasks and teams in a deadline intensive environment

  • Experience working in large and complex projects/programs.

  • Experience with construction phase services for site/civil projects (field reviews, RFI and shop drawing/submittal reviews, specifications, as-builts and record drawings, etc.)

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $130,000.00 - $150,000.00.
