Job Description

As a part of our continued growth, AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Wastewater Technical Project Manager to assist in the delivery of major municipal wastewater treatment plant projects. We are seeking a candidate who is a registered Professional Engineer with at least 10 years’ experience related specifically to planning, design, project management and construction of municipal wastewater infrastructure. This requisition is opened for the Oakland, CA office but other locations in Northern California may be considered depending on experience.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical understanding of wastewater principals and a proven track record leading large teams and complex projects through planning, design and construction. In this role you will be responsible for managing a variety of infrastructure projects including the design and construction phases of municipal wastewater infrastructure improvements. You will work in a team environment with intermediate and senior engineers to deliver advanced wastewater treatment projects to our clients.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees and manages design and construction phases of municipal wastewater infrastructure projects to ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract documents, on time and on budget.

  • Designs, or directs the design of, municipal wastewater infrastructure including process mechanical and biological systems.

  • Manages job safety at all times.

  • Regularly delivers project progress reports to clients and internal AECOM staff.

  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges, determining technical objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for technical activities and applications.

  • Stays abreast of industry standards and approaches and implements best practices.

  • Engages and is hands-on in the technical execution of client assignments through to successful project completion.

  • Prepares technical memoranda, planning studies and design reports.

  • Ensures project work undertaken is accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems.

  • Supports client engagement and business development in the Northern California market.

  • Mentors and provides career support and guidance to junior staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. and 10+ years of experience working on municipal wastewater infrastructure engineering projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer or ability to obtain professional registration within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree (Master / PhD) in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience in project management and supervision of alternative delivery models.

  • 15+ years of progressive experience including minimum of 5 years in a project management or lead designer role.

  • Exceptional client care and service delivery skills.

  • Experience in working with geographically dispersed, multi-discipline project teams that have successfully delivered major design projects within budget and on schedule.

  • Proven project management skills including PM certifications.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $160,000.00 - $260,000.00.
