Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior-level Biologist/ Project Manager to join our dynamic team of environmental professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position is based in AECOM’s Oakland office and would support a variety of clients on important projects throughout northern California.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead AECOM’s Northern California wetland technical practice, providing senior-level guidance and mentorship of staff, supporting growth and development of the Northern California practice.

  • Provide senior leadership on projects involving complex regulatory situations and environmental permitting.

  • Act as Project Manager or Senior Advisor on project and program efforts related to biological resources, wetland resources, permitting, restoration, and/or environmental compliance.

  • Maintain and share up-to-date information on current regulations, in particular as related to wetlands and waters.

  • Lead efforts to capture new work, including tracking future opportunities and supporting or leading proposal efforts.

  • Provide leadership for a variety of biological tasks, including biological surveys (botanical, wildlife, etc.), preparation of technical reports, and CEQA/NEPA documentation.

  • Provide senior leadership on delineations of wetlands and waters to determine the limits of federal and state jurisdiction, which may include occasional field work or oversight of other staff conducting delineations.

  • Contribute as an active and positive member of AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting practice in the SF Bay Area.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related field plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience including project management experience.

  • Experience preparing proposals, scopes, and budgets.

  • Has been lead author of jurisdictional delineation reports.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing permit application packages for submittal to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, California Coastal Commission, and Regional Water Quality Control Board.

  • Trained and experienced in conducting delineations of wetlands and waters. Experience in arid west wetlands, streams, and riparian habitats is preferred.

  • Has a positive attitude and is adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Highly organized with a strong detail-oriented work style.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience with the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act.

Additional Information

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $165,000.00.
