AECOM Geologist/Hydrogeologist in Orange, California

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a self-motivated, experienced Hydrogeologist or Geologist for our Orange office. In this important position, the successful candidate will support project managers in the planning, oversight of fieldwork, evaluation of hydrogeology, and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects in Southern California. Projects include Federal and municipal clients. This person is a lead, not an individual contributor.

Under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member, the successful candidate will:

  • Assist project managers to successfully deliver projects on-schedule and on-budget utilizing internal AECOM systems

  • Take the lead on report writing tasks (primarily CERCLA and RCRA documents) with the support of junior staff

  • Task manage portions of larger projects

  • Assist with environmental investigation and remediation tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary project team

  • Mentor and coordinate work for junior and mid-level staff.

  • Coordinate and prepare written reports, work plans, and technical memorandums, analyze data and develop supported conclusions and recommendations.

  • Have a safety-oriented behavior with a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.

The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, and display a high level of organization and communication. The candidate will be allowed to work remotely if desired.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. degree in geology, geological sciences or hydrogeology or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education

  • 8 years of demonstrated experience in environmental consulting, including monitoring well installation and sampling, analytical data interpretation and reporting, preparation of CERCLA and/or RCRA documents including remedial investigation reports, feasibility studies.

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

  • Must be able to pass Federal Background Check to gain access to DoD project sites

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER certification

  • 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting

  • Knowledge of California environmental regulations

  • Knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, and other environmental regulations

  • MS in geology or hydrogeology

  • California Professional Geologist License

  • Ability to attend meetings and visit job sites in the Southern California area, including those held in the Orange office. These activities are estimated not to exceed 20% of total hours worked.
