AECOM Senior Sustainability Consultant/Engineer in Orange, California

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Sustainability Consultant for immediate employment for the Orange, CA (and/or Los Angeles) office.

The team provides energy design leadership and consulting on sustainable buildings and communities projects/Our projects range from the design of net zero buildings through the sustainable planning of major global eco-cities.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support design, engineering, and construction teams on green building projects and initiatives

  • Provide general sustainability and sustainable design consulting services

  • Work with AECOM discipline groups (e.g. architecture, landscape, engineering, information systems, planning, transportation, economists) to coordinate and ensure sustainability is integrated into project delivery

  • Prepare and coordinate LEED documentation, facilitate the LEED certification process (and/or Envision)

  • Complete energy modeling and investigations for LEED compliance as required.

  • Undertake daylight calculation and simulation analyses as required

  • Research sustainability topics, including client, industry, market, and regulatory drivers, market studies, as well as stakeholder concerns; incorporate findings into projects and client briefings.

  • Research and develop sustainability guidelines and guidance for buildings, sites and campuses

  • Manage clients, project tasks and projects

  • Participate in broader initiatives of the AECOM sustainability practice, network with colleagues, and engage in other regional project opportunities

  • Occasional travel opportunities to be expected

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sustainability, Planning, Engineering, Architecture, or related field

  • 4+ years of professional experience in sustainability consulting, management, green building consulting or other related experience in the consulting industry and/or private or public sector

  • LEED GA Accreditation

  • Working knowledge of the primary aspects of sustainable design

  • Experience in sustainability projects and can show verified experience facilitating and managing the LEED certification process

  • Aptitude for analytical reasoning, organized work habits, and good technical writing capabilities

  • Confident, self-motivated and able to work unsupervised as well as in a multi-disciplinary team environment

  • Strong MS office skills

  • Strong Excel/spreadsheets (data management and visualization) and PowerPoint

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proficiently communicate both internally and externally to build collaborative relationships

  • Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines, while maintaining professionalism and quality

  • Strong work ethic coupled with a high energy level and passion for sustainability work

  • Strong data / information management skills including ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data, organize and correlate findings, and incorporate into client deliverables

  • Adaptable and flexible, showing a willingness and ability to take on new projects or areas with or without supervision, as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in sustainability, sustainable design or sustainability management

  • Licensed Professional in planning, landscape architecture, architecture or engineering

  • LEED AP and/or Envision SP and/or ASHRAE BEMP

  • Experience developing and managing sustainability programs

  • Experience with computer energy simulation and modeling using Trane Trace, IES VE, Sefaira, or Green Building Studio

  • Experience in daylight simulation and modeling with IES VE or Revit

  • Experience in Revit

  • Experience in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop

  • Comfortable leading teams, taking on leadership roles and will accept opportunities to challenge him/herself
