Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a Chemist III for employment within our Environmental Remediation Practices to support quality assurance/quality control, data management, data analysis, and various analytical chemistry aspects of environmental investigations for our clients.

The position supports the team through various measures and resources that will be available to you. AECOM offers full life-cycle solutions for projects – from due diligence through restoration and redevelopment to outreach programs that engage stakeholders and generate goodwill in the community.

Our experts integrate scientific and engineering knowledge with responsive and cost-effective project management, strong communication skills, and an understanding of regulatory strategies and challenges.

The job responsibilities for the position will include but are not limited to:

  • Support development of project documents including SAPs and QAPPs

  • Solicit analytical laboratory services and evaluation for project use

  • Act as a liaison between the laboratory, field team, and project management during project implementation

  • Support data evaluation, including regulatory comparison, and associated reporting for field investigation and remediation reports

  • Review and validate chemical data packages in accordance with DoD, USEPA, and State guidance to ensure compliance with published analytical methods and usability of environmental data

  • Upload laboratory analytical data to specific client and regulatory databases.

  • Manage data in relational database systems like Earthsoft EQuIS

  • Manipulate electronic data deliverables to create report-ready tables and visualizations

  • Participate in the development of new data management workflows and automated tools

  • Prepare technical memoranda and white papers to be included in client deliverables

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in Chemistry process employed working within a Remediation consulting company

  • OSHA 40-hr Hazardous Training HAZWOPER

  • Strong understanding of components related to Federal and Local laws

  • Experience using relational databases such as EQuIS

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles (i.e. quality assurance and quality control)

  • Working knowledge of instrumentation used for environmental analysis (i.e. GC/MS, ICP, GC-ECD, IC, etc.) is a plus

  • Knowledge or experience with the analytical challenges presented by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)

  • Experience performing chemical analysis in an academic or commercial setting

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $65,000.00 - $80,000.00.
