The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Actively investigate the presence of physical survey evidence in the field

  • Performs MOT and related duties, as directed

  • Mentors and trains junior crew members

  • Performs maintenance of the survey field equipment

  • Understands and follows all applicable safety procedures

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ year experience in the Survey field

  • Ability to use appropriate survey equipment, conventional, GPS/GNSS and/or laser scanning, to efficiently and accurately perform a wide range of field survey tasks

  • Efficient use of FDOT Electronic Field Book (EFB) for data collection

  • Ability to read and understand survey notes, sketches, maps, deeds, as-builts, construction plans and other drawings and records

  • Experience with EFB field software

  • Experience with Leica conventional and GPS/GNSS survey equipment

  • Thorough knowledge of transportation projects

  • Clean driving record

  • Good reading, writing and communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Lift, operate and carry survey equipment

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and walk for a long period of times

  • Able to travel extensively, including some overnight stay, as needed

  • Ability to work overtime, as needed

  • Strong belief in safety practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • MOT and confined space certified

  • Basic experience with SUE and the utility surveys

  • Ability to quickly understand new technologies and learn new software
