Performs a variety of tasks in support of survey or construction activities.
Duties may differ depending on the specialty area.
Activities may include setting up and operating equipment; inspecting equipment; inspection of engineering installations for compliance with specifications; maintaining project documentation; assisting with the building, repair, or maintenance of a structure or roadway.
Relies on general to moderately complex knowledge of procedures, company policies, and business practices to plan and accomplish goals.
At this level, incumbents normally can handle a wide range of relatively complex protocols; viewed as fully competent within limits of experience.
Works under general supervision.
High School diploma
5+ years of experience in the Survey field
Thorough knowledge of transportation projects
Good reading, writing and communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Basic computer skills
Lift, operate and carry survey equipment
Ability to work outside in all-weather conditions and walk for a long period of times
Able to travel extensively, including some overnight stay, as needed
Ability to work overtime, as needed
Strong belief in safety practices
Ability to read and understand survey notes, sketches, maps, deeds, as-builts, construction plans and other drawings and records
Ability to use appropriate survey equipment, conventional, GPS/GNSS and/or laser scanning, to efficiently and accurately perform wide range of field survey procedures
Capacity to actively investigate the presence of physical survey evidence in the field
Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Must possess a valid driver’s license
FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) experience
Experience with Leica conventional and GPS/GNSS survey equipment
Experience with EFB field data collection
MOT and confined space certified
Basic experience with the utility surveys
Basic AutoCAD skills
Ability to quickly understand new technologies and learn new software
