Job Summary

  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of survey or construction activities.

  • Duties may differ depending on the specialty area.

  • Activities may include setting up and operating equipment; inspecting equipment; inspection of engineering installations for compliance with specifications; maintaining project documentation; assisting with the building, repair, or maintenance of a structure or roadway.

  • Relies on general to moderately complex knowledge of procedures, company policies, and business practices to plan and accomplish goals.

  • At this level, incumbents normally can handle a wide range of relatively complex protocols; viewed as fully competent within limits of experience.

  • Works under general supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • 5+ years of experience in the Survey field

  • Thorough knowledge of transportation projects

  • Good reading, writing and communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Lift, operate and carry survey equipment

  • Ability to work outside in all-weather conditions and walk for a long period of times

  • Able to travel extensively, including some overnight stay, as needed

  • Ability to work overtime, as needed

  • Strong belief in safety practices

  • Ability to read and understand survey notes, sketches, maps, deeds, as-builts, construction plans and other drawings and records

  • Ability to use appropriate survey equipment, conventional, GPS/GNSS and/or laser scanning, to efficiently and accurately perform wide range of field survey procedures

  • Capacity to actively investigate the presence of physical survey evidence in the field

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) experience

  • Experience with Leica conventional and GPS/GNSS survey equipment

  • Experience with EFB field data collection

  • MOT and confined space certified

  • Basic experience with the utility surveys

  • Basic AutoCAD skills

  • Ability to quickly understand new technologies and learn new software
