Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer I to be based in Philadelphia, PA.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • The Philadelphia Office of AECOM is seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing Traffic Engineer with 0-2 years’ experience in the areas of developing roadway traffic plans, ITS plans and performing traffic analyses. A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering is required, with an EIT preferred.

  • Successful candidate will have knowledge of traffic engineering concepts and working knowledge of traffic analysis software programs. Candidate will be responsible for preparing reports, studies and develop plans for various transportation facilities and traffic engineering projects. Any prior design experience with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as it relates to traffic engineering, signal design, ITS design, plan production, project estimates and specifications is a plus.

  • Experience with Synchro and HCS traffic analysis software, Microstation and Microsoft Office is desired. Effective oral and written communication skills are a must.

  • Candidates must be self-motivated with a desire to work on a broad range of transportation projects. Advancement opportunities are available to those candidates who show initiative and firm understanding of design concepts and leadership skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • +1 year experience in Civil Engineering or related field

  • 0-2 years of Traffic/Transportation/ITS-related internship or work experience

  • Engineer in Training certification

  • MicroStation/AutoCAD experience

  • Good communication skills

  • Applicable course work in Transportation/Traffic Engineering and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
