Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineering Co-Op Student interested in joining a premier engineering company with the potential to gain experience on a variety of challenging transportation projects that include work within the highway, bridge, mass transit, and airport industries in our Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office.

Our clients include PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, DelDOT, Norfolk Southern Railroad, CSX, Amtrak, the Delaware River Port Authority, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, the City of Philadelphia, and SEPTA.

This position is expected to begin in March 2024.

Students will be assigned to the applicable department. All of this work is consistent with the duties of an entry-level, graduate engineer's responsibilities.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with preliminary to final design calculations and plan development, reviewing field information, and possible field inspection of existing facilities.

  • Apply technical training to perform basic calculations, work well in a team setting, and be willing to work diligently to learn new skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering with the intent to continue after the internship unless graduating.

  • Candidates must have completed one year of study in their program.

  • Candidates must be current Drexel University students participating in their University 2024 spring/summer CO-OP program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Capability in using AutoCAD and/or Bentley CAD drafting software.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania . The selected candidate must be available to work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on a scheduled basis.

  • Offered rate of compensation (Pennsylvania locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $ 18.99 - $ 26.12/hr.
