Job Description

AECOM Hunt is seeking a BIM-VDC Engineer - Digital Technology Specialist . This role is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and will provide full-time on-site presence with strategic remote work flexibility upon the successful establishment of critical management and coordination duties.

The BIM-VDC Engineer - Digital Technology Specialist helps lead the implementation and use of digital building and construction technology including BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud on AECOM Hunt’s world-renowned projects. The primary duties of this role are to lead the BIM project management and VDC coordination as well as support on-site construction teams to ensure optimal digital project delivery by leveraging building and construction technologies.

The BIM-VDC Engineer - Digital Technology Specialist’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•Work collaboratively within our core Digital Technology team Western region to strategize, implement and leverage digital technologies as well other related leading-edge methodologies to secure the advancement and continuous innovation of our digital project delivery.

•Schedule and meet with Project Executive, Project Manager, and General Superintendent upon being awarded any project to fill out project start-up checklist for BIM requirements.

•Assist project team with subcontractor selection and contract language as they relate to BIM requirements in bid packs.

•Schedule and lead project kick-off meetings with design-assist subcontractors, subcontractors, and A/E team to implement BIM execution plan.

•Ensure projects have adequately defined BIM requirements using AECOM Hunt’s standard project checklist for BIM and ensure proper staffing needs are retained to fulfill these requirements.

•Set up 3D and model-based projects for coordination during project start-up while collaborating with the project team to ensure the project is optimized to include new technological advancements.

•Manage and coordinate BIM models; configure the digital project for optimized collaboration with A/E and design teams, subcontractors, and trade partners; generate coordination schedule.

•Provide as-needed detailing and project layout utilizing Revit as well as other BIM applications and platforms to facilitate field operations; assist and partner with subcontractors to secure the successful coordination of trade fabrication and shop drawings.

•Lead and perform Navisworks clash prevention and resolution with trade partners as well as effectively communicate and coordinate RFIs with the design team and A/E partners.

•Support other digital technologies as required by the project; generate BIM 4D sequencing, 3D visualization, synthesize 360 reality capture and laser scanning; assist in data extraction from drone technologies and translate digital data into relevant and useful information.

•Continually support the project to ensure that BIM/VDC Engineers are delivering BIM requirements as outlined in AECOM Hunt’s project checklist while maintaining corporate standards.

•Provide leadership and coaching to junior BIM/VDC Technicians and Engineers to guide their development of critical industry knowledge and understanding of corporate standards. This mentoring will aid in their growth and prepare them to be self-sustaining on future projects.

•Assist with preparing subcontract & A/E contract language to obtain effective BIM models.

•Lead and oversee project kickoff meetings in partnership with junior BIM/VDC Technicians and Engineers to ensure proper information is delivered to project teams and subcontractors.

•Participate in and manage the development of presentations, including the creation of animations and images for proposals and marketing materials.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant construction experience or AA/AS + 8 years of relevant experience or HS + 10 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and graphical communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills; possess the ability to be agile in leading multiple projects

  • Basic understanding of scheduling software

  • Self-motivated and can work independently or within a team

  • Strong understanding of construction documents and can accurately interpret prints

  • Possess technical knowledge of commercial building design and documentation

  • Strong skills in marketing/sales for the purpose of pursuing new work and effectively communicating technical information to operations

  • Offered rate of compensation (Arizona only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $61K - $112K USD annually.
