AECOM is actively seeking a Mid-Level Geologist for employment in the Piscataway, NJ office. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers and assist with environmental investigation and remediation tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.

Under the supervision of a Project Manager or senior-level team member, the successful candidate will:
Assist Project Managers to successfully deliver projects on-schedule and on-budget utilizing internal AECOM systems
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out tasks
Assist with environmental investigation and remediation tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
Develop subcontractor relationships and manage implementation of their services
Assist in managing and coordinating complex field tasks involving groundwater monitoring, drilling and remedial construction activities
Assist with preparing permits and access agreements with numerous public agencies and other stakeholders
Assist with report writing tasks with the support of more junior staff
Task manage portions of a larger project
Fully qualified scientist. Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives.
Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources.
Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance.
Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation.
Proficient in laboratory data deliverables and electronic data deliverables
This is a Project Manager-track position; therefore, the ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers. For the right candidate, this position holds significant growth potential.
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Hydrogeology
4+ years of experience in related field, preferably environmental consulting for Federal, State, or private clients and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
Well drilling and groundwater/soil sampling experience
Remedial investigation, remediation planning, or design experience
Valid Driver's license
Ability to travel for short-term regional project assignments/meetings
Proficient in laboratory data deliverables and electronic data deliverables
Experience with CERCLA Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Studies RCRA, and Remedial Design/Remedial Action projects with commercial or DOD clients
Professional Geologist (PG) certification is preferred, although consideration will be given to candidates working towards those certifications
Remediation bid document preparation experience
Cost estimating experience
OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour training
Proficient in Microsoft Office software
Demonstrated technical writing abilities
Strong writing, communication, and team building/leading skills
Experience with proposal writing and proposal cost estimating
Proficiency in GIS, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Excel, and Microsoft Access
