Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, Mid-level Ecologist for immediate employment in the Pittsburgh, PA and/or Akron or Cincinnati, OH offices.
The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented environment. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while working with a team comprised of a variety of staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients, including natural gas, electric utilities, and renewables.
AECOM’s Impact Assessment and Permitting group conducts a variety of projects including impact assessments, environmental field assessments, environmental regulatory permitting, utility siting and licensing, environmental inspection, and many others. The group primarily works on projects in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Ohio, West Virginia and adjacent states as part of AECOM’s regional ecological group. There are opportunities to work on large-scale projects or projects further afield than the typical project range if the candidate is interested.The position may report to either Pittsburgh, PA, Akron, OH, or Cincinnati, OH office as well as part-time teleworking may be considered. However, this position is open for staff to be remote, if residence is within the Southwestern, PA; Central to Southern, Ohio; or Northwest, West Virginia. The reporting office would be selected upon closest location.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Lead ecological teams for stream, wetland, wildlife habitat assessments, and other ecological surveys.
Certification or ability to complete ORAM, HHEI, and/or QHEI in Ohio.
Post-Process field data for inclusion within various ecological reports.
Originate or lead ecological reports including (aquatic resources, terrestrial habitat assessment, rare flora assessments, and/or avian surveys).Knowledge of submittal of Clean Water Act Permits (Section 404/401) in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Task Lead and/or coordinate the deliverables of assigned ecological reports.
Coordinate with various governmental agencies regarding ecological surveys and reporting conditions.
Work may include travel, out of town work, and/or overnight stays for completion of ecological surveys.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental. Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Biology, or related field.2+ years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
The position requires fieldwork, and the candidate must be able to travel (including overnight).
Good driving record and a valid driver’s license is required.
US Citizenship required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Industry knowledge of utilizing ArcGIS for processing data collection, create maps and shapefiles, as well as impact analysis.
Data collection, review, and preparation of scientific documents
