Job Summary

AECOM’s Transportation Business Line is actively seeking a highly motivated Civil/Highway Engineer for immediate employment in our Pittsburgh, PA office. Candidates are required to have a BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering. Under the supervision of a Project Engineer, the appropriately qualified applicants will be part of a Design Team responsible for the design of small to large-scale Highway Improvement Projects (arterials, freeways, interchanges).

This is a prominent role and outstanding opportunity for an ambitious, career-oriented professional who excels in a team environment, but is also able to work independently. AECOM is a very progressive and successful engineering firm that prides itself on building and retaining a high caliber staff to continually meet client expectations on high-profile projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs a variety of design tasks independently

  • Works together with others on design teams

  • Follows corporate quality procedures

  • Meets client quality, schedule, and budget expectations

  • Guides Junior Engineers in managing design tasks.

  • Design of small to large-scale Highway Improvement Projects (corridor widening, interchange/intersection improvements, bridge replacements, etc.)

  • Determine the scope of work and prepare man-hour estimates for highway engineering tasks

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree plus four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • EIT Certificate

  • Proficiency with Microstation, Inroads, ORD, and AutoTab software

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE License

  • Experience with PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects

  • Experience with City of Pittsburgh projects

  • Experience in multiple elements of civil engineering design with an emphasis on transportation projects including, but not limited to the following:

  • Site grading

  • ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Design

  • Responsible for the effective management of own time in accordance with project priorities and objectives

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams

  • Oversee work of less experienced engineers
