AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Civil/Structural Engineer to support the AECOM US Oil & Gas Business. This position will be based in our Pittsburgh, PA office.
This position involves the development and design of civil/structural engineering for construction drawings for the power, oil, gas and petrochemical and other process industry projects.
Works autonomously within established procedures and practices, with latitude to determine work priorities.
Typically leads junior team members but continues to perform day to day work activities providing technical or operational guidance to employees, colleagues and customers.
May have formal supervisory responsibilities defining team operating standards and ensuring essential procedures are followed.
May conduct peer reviews and make technical presentations.
Contributes as an in-house expert on specific technologies or processes to achieve objectives established by upper management:
Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
Ensure that project goals/milestones/ budgets are met.
Identifies and implements process improvements.
Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.
Analyzes complex issues and guides solutions to challenging issues within a team within their function, business unit or technical discipline, using standard operating procedures/methodologies as a basis and defining new procedures and methods as needed.
Receives instruction on specific assignments, objectives, complex features and possible solutions.
Assignments have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.
Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
Applies acquired expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges and provide coaching to peers and team members.
Sought for technical experience, able to influence customers, suppliers and managers.
Actively pursues continuous learning of technical advances, emerging business/industry trends and competitive positioning.
Interacts regularly with clients to expand work assignments or market new work.
May be preparing marketing materials and making calls to potential new clients.
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from four year accredited college or university program or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience + 6 years engineering design experience (structural steel and concrete) for large industrial projects.
Previous experience working on multi-discipline projects; experience with retrofit or brown field
Previous experience in a lead structural role, to include:
Coordinating and executing deliverables by directing project staff
Interfacing with inter-discipline leads effectively to work through project tasks
Development or assisting with staffing plans, labor hour, and labor cost requirements for a project(s) and monitoring it against the budget.
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency with structural modeling software such as, Staad Pro and Advanced Steel
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel
Capable of traveling to client offices and facilities to assist project teams with creating field sketches; take dimensions, climb ladders, etc., at these projects.
Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain within 6 months to 1 year of hire.
Civil site work and/or drainage experience.
2D and/or 3D CAD Experience.
Extensive Experience utilizing, Staad Pro, structural modeling software.
Capable of completing design.
Experience working on projects with remote team members (i.e. workshare).
Engineering design experience (structural steel and concrete) in an industrial facilities environment, preferably working on Oil & Gas, Power and/or Petrochemical industry projects.
