AECOM Environmental Technician I - Portland in Portland, Oregon
AECOM has an opening for an Environmental Technician I in our Portland, Oregon office. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, reliable and have good interpersonal communication skills. Relocation to Portland is required for this role, as it is not a remote position.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performs soil, groundwater, surface water, waste, sediment and air sampling.
Performs operation and maintenance (O&M) on treatment systems.
Uses field instruments and equipment as necessary to meet health and safety as well as field sampling and O&M requirements.
Documents all field activities and notes.
Performs subcontractor oversight.
Communicates effectively with project managers.
Has a high degree of health and safety awareness.
Works within defined scopes, schedules and budgets while producing quality work.
Maintains knowledge of sampling procedures and protocols in accordance with recognized industry standards.
Will work under close supervision of an engineer or scientist. Work will entail daily and overnight travel to worksites in/near the Portland area.
Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work will be required including oversight of subcontractors.

High School Diploma.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
Associates Degree(s) or trade certification is a plus.
2 years of experience in a similar capacity.
Collect and evaluate environmental data in field and office settings.
Selected candidate will be required to complete 40 hour HAZWOPER training or annual refresher class, if needed.
Selected Candidate will also receive First Aid/CPR training and AECOM specific training.
Candidate must exhibit a mature sense of professional responsibility and awareness of accepted standards of professional behavior.
Candidate should have proficient technical writing skills and ability to effectively express his or herself orally in project reviews conducted among internal staff.
Be able to independently perform field work.
Be able to perform contractor oversight.
Excellent attention to Health and Safety.
Aptitude for operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
Ability to record data neatly, accurately, and legibly.
Possess strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs; MS Word and MS Excel.
Ability to travel up to 90% to various job sites locally and regionally, some travel requires overnight stays.
