Job Description
AECOM’s Portland Transportation group is actively seeking a highly motivated experienced Civil Engineer with experience in railway, roadway, highway, and/or civil site design.

This role will be part of an established Rail/Transit engineering group and will work with a broad variety of transportation clients and projects throughout AECOM’s West Region. Projects may include:
Roadway design
Freight and Transit track design
Transportation and multi-modal planning
Transit planning and design
Construction Management and Safety audits
In this role you will also work collaboratively with colleagues throughout AECOM’s West Region on rail/transit infrastructure projects for multiple state, local and federal government. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
elements for engineering works.
- Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
BA/BS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Due to the nature of work; US citizen required.
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or 5+ years of demonstrated engineering equivalency or related engineering experience
Oregon Professional Engineers License or ability to obtain license within six months
Experience with designs and plans production for transportation/civil infrastructure projects including calculations
Prior experience designing railroads/roadways for transportation projects
Experience and ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems
Experience using InRoads and/or Civil 3D design software packages for the conceptual and detailed design of horizontal and vertical alignments, sections, and 3D modeling on rail and/or highway projects
Ability to communicate effectively; verbal and written
