AECOM Water Resources/Stormwater Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer with Water Resources and Stormwater experience based in Raleigh, North Carolina area.

This position provide project/task management and client service interaction on a variety of civil/water resources engineering projects. Work may include planning, designing, regulatory compliance, and permitting on current and future projects in North Carolina and across the Mid-Atlantic Area. Projects may include dam evaluations and modeling, emergency action plans development, dam rehabilitation plans, stormwater drainage system and facility (e.g., BMP, GI, LID practices) evaluation, design, inspections, and construction management. Tasks will include providing engineering leadership for field investigations, feasibility studies, design and construction inspection phases of projects including report writing.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments

  • Identifies discrepancies in results

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision

  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design

  • elements for engineering works

  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Water Resources or related field

  • 4 years of related experience in Civil/Water Resources Engineering, or related field

  • Ability to obtain North Carolina PE within 1 year

  • Experience producing construction documents for a variety of civil/water resources projects

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • US Citizenship Required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of directly applicable experience

  • Professional Engineering license in North Carolina

  • Experience planning, designing, construction, and maintenance of dams, stormwater infrastructure and BMPs, low impact development, green infrastructure practices, or stream restoration projects in North Carolina

  • Experience providing construction management on civil/water resources engineering projects in North Carolina

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet software and detailed knowledge of Hydro CAD, AutoCAD and Civil 3D programs, TR-55, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and/or ESRI ArcGIS and GIS-based H&H analysis tools

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication (verbal and written) skills

  • Ability to write well and communicate technical issues to a wide range of audiences

  • Good analytical skills to interpret data and modeling results
