Job Responsibilities/Duties

This Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for providing technical engineering services in support of TOC activities. Performs a variety of engineering duties including, but not limited to: design, drafting, developing and approving work packages and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), conducting field walk downs, developing specifications, performing and/or reviewing calculations, testing, design/procedural reviews and assisting in the planning and execution of field work. Develop conventional to highly complex engineering solutions to technical problems.

Assume technical responsibility for one or more related phases of a program. Cooperate with other engineers/scientists performing related phases of the technical work. Be cognizant of the work performed in other projects in field of technology.

Accept the delegated technical responsibility for design, application, test, or the preparation of specifications for systems, materials, equipment or components.

Apply technical knowledge toward the reduction of the cost and improvement of the product where possible and incorporate new ideas resulting from engineering/scientific progress in the field.

Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects.

Prepare costs and schedule estimates on proposed projects/tasks in assigned area.

Demonstrates problem-solving skills in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

Prepare technical manuals, reports and procedures. Prepare, deliver and submit technical presentations for technical review meetings.

Demonstrate creative ability through the ingenuity exercised in solving technical problems or preparation and presentation of technical papers, articles, talks or patent disclosures.

Conduct site/area visits and investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives and provide recommendations

Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

Other duties as described in role-specific R2A2s or as assigned.

Required Qualifications

BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering discipline and 1 year of directly related experience.

TOC Engineering Technical Staff Qualification

Experience with facility maintenance

Experience with SmartPlant.

Experience with 222-S Laboratory functions
