AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Architect for employment in the Roanoke, VA office. The Entry-Level Architect will work collaboratively with all team members to cultivate design concepts through modeling, drawings, diagrams, visualization and statistical analyses as part of the process. The Entry-Level Architect will be expected to be proactive in their initiation, creation and presentation of designs. It is important for the Entry-Level Architect to be able to engage in design collaborations and effectively communicate with fellow design/technical professionals and clients. The Entry-Level Architect will need to be able to articulate questions and have a willingness to engage topics outside of their level of expertise. The Entry-Level Architect should demonstrate the ability, confidence, and desire to push the limits of what’s possible while seeking innovative solutions to design problems, providing unique perspectives to the built environment. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Develops solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity working under general supervision
Exercise independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and use of standard techniques, solve problems when encountered, and receives guidance on projects
Develops architectural designs to meet project specifications
Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and working drawings
Adapts and modifies design features and operational methods to meet a variety of situations
Prepares architectural reports and design narratives
Coordinates design activities with other engineering disciplines working with senior architects and designers
Maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
3+ years of relevant experience
Diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong technical skills related to visualization, planning, and architectural design
Ability to clearly communicate with clients and peers
Ability to work in a fast paced work environment
Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop and PowerPoint
Licensed as a registered architect, preferably in VA
Due to nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required
Certification as a LEED Accredited Professional by the USGBC
Experience with SketchUp Pro, Adobe Creative Suites, or other related graphic software
