AECOM Electrical Design Technician in Roanoke, Virginia

Job Summary

AECOM has an immediate opening for an Electrical Technician for our Buildings+ Places practice in beautiful Roanoke, VA. This position will assist with electrical systems designs for Buildings + Places business line clients, which consists of DoD and Federal Government projects. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop electrical systems design concepts in coordination with lead engineer.

  • Electrical systems design includes lighting, power, grounding, lightning protection, and communications systems for building interior and building/campus site.

  • Prepare contract documents, including drawings, schedules, calculations, and cost estimates.

  • Setup and maintain multiple models for production in Autodesk REVIT software, by using advanced knowledge of Autodesk REVIT MEP and AutoCAD MEP

  • Coordinate and incorporate Client BIM standards and requirements with AECOM’s standards. Manage models ensuring BIM models remain free from errors, validate models using clash detection, manage model information management systems, maintain and develop BIM standards, and assist in optimization of REVIT workflows.

  • Execute complete, accurate, and coordinated project design assignments on time and within budget.

  • Have an understanding of overall project constraints including design budget limitations and schedule requirements.

  • Interact and communicate effectively with other team members and disciplines.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma and 2+ years of related electrical design experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education

  • Revit experience is required

  • Due to the nature of the work performed, U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Autodesk certification in REVIT and AutoCAD software

  • Familiarity and knowledge of the National Electric Code

  • Electrical design experience in buildings and facilities engineering

  • Secret or Top-Secret DoD clearance is highly preferred

  • Working knowledge of Electrical system analysis tools (E-TAP or SKM)

  • Working knowledge of lighting analysis tools (AGI, ElumTools

  • Direct experience in Department of Defense, Health Care, and Government facilities

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills a must.
