The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership in programming and planning efforts on healthcare projects of all sizes

  • Develop space programs; block/stack planning through construction documents

  • Ability to lead user-group work sessions; and conduct site and program analyses

  • Lead internal teams and client in understanding short-term and long-term planning needs

  • Knowledge of LEAN principles in Healthcare

  • Coordinate project planning assignments and facilitate program development

  • Prepare planning presentation materials

  • Participate in business development and marketing presentations

  • Assure that all technical work produced is of high quality and within the context of schedule and budget

  • Work independently, in a team environment and as a project team leader

  • Carry assignments to completion in accordance with project objectives, codes/criteria/standards, policies and procedures

  • Oversee the work of junior architects and designers

  • Work in a fast paced work environment

Additional Information:

  • Anticipated travel: 10 to 20% depending upon project locations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent

  • 8+ years of medical planning/relevant experience

  • Specialized knowledge of healthcare architecture and medical equipment

  • Proven technical skills and ability to demonstrate experience in all phases of architecture project delivery

  • Diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Previous experience working in a team environment and as a project team leader

  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with a sense of urgency

  • Ability and willingness to travel to project locations

  • Licensed as a registered architect, preferably in VA

  • Due to nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience

  • Certification as a LEED Accredited Professional by the USGBC

  • Public sector and DoD healthcare experience

  • Previous experience serving as an architect as well as planner

  • Prior medical workload and programming analysis experience

  • Proficiency in Revit

  • Working experience in a wide variety of production and visualization software including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and PowerPoint
