The Water Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a Survey Rodman for immediate employment in our Roanoke, VA office. In addition, the applicant would support the office design work at different times depending on workloads. The qualified candidate should have a survey background, knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation software, and a desire to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
The successful candidate will:
Coordinate with other members of the water business team members and the survey Party Chief while working on projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
Acquire job skills and learn company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work and works under close supervision.
Work on a Survey crew and performs manual duties as directed. Cuts brush, drives stakes, carries level rod or prism pole. Assumes rear Chain person position during survey assignment. Maintains survey equipment and survey vehicle. Entry level position, previous experience may not be required.
3+ years of relevant professional surveying and mapping experience
Surveying knowledge for aspects of Boundary, GPS, Topographic and Control Surveying
Advanced knowledge in CADD using AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, Geopak
Able to exercise independent judgment
U.S. citizenship is required
Must possess a valid driver's license
Basic work skills required include:
Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills
Proficient use of PC-based applications ( MS Word, Excel, Access), as well as motivated, hardworking team player with attention to detail
Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative
Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines
