Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented CTrail Outreach and Engagement Specialist to join its sustainable transportation project and our amazing team of professionals in Rocky Hill, Connecticut . This position will support the passenger rail network on behalf of the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The main goal of this program is to increase awareness and ridership of the CT rail services. As a CT rail Outreach and Engagement Specialist, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders throughout the state. These stakeholders can include community organizations, employers along the rail corridor, schools, and local municipalities. You will collaborate with these organizations to raise awareness and increase ridership of the service in their respective communities.

Responsibilities / Objectives:

  • Performs a range of transportation demand management, marketing, outreach, and sales activities to influence individual travelers, commuters, and students to utilize CT rail services.

  • Conduct market research, develop prospecting strategies, build relationships, and identify new partnership opportunities.

  • Leads the All About Trains program, which involves school-based presentations and field trips.

  • Communicate with K-8 students and school administration in promotion of our rail education programs.

  • Develops, promotes, and implements a range of worksite, school-based, and community programs to improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion.

  • Benchmark and analyze growth in TDM services and employer programs monthly, quarterly, and annually.

  • Assists with reporting on program progress for monthly/quarterly reports, including developing written summaries of activities underway.

  • Participates in Statewide project events, which help to further the program’s goals.

  • Accurately document all sales and outreach activity within an assigned region using Salesforce, according to project protocols.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of various TDM strategies, including carpools, vanpools, transit, and Emergency Ride Home programs, to influence transportation mode choice away from drive-alone travel.

  • Develops new and existing clients through cold calls, networking, and other means to engage prospective partners and reengage existing partners.

Other duties to note:

  • Some heavy lifting (<30 lbs.) may be required.

  • Field office work will require reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a safe driving record.

  • Occasional night and weekend work for community-based events.

  • There will be a balance of required in-office and fieldwork, including traveling to various employer locations to conduct outreach activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Business, Marketing, or related field plus none or demonstrated equivalent of experience and /or education.

  • Valid Driver’s license and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills and experience in handling multiple tasks in an organized and efficient manner.

  • The ability to synthesize information, summarize critical insights, and communicate solutions in clear verbal and written form is essential.

  • K-8 presentation or educator experience a plus

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Customer Relationship Management and community engagement experience is a plus.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $27.04/hour - $32.98/hour.
