AECOM Technical Director Rail Operations Planning in Rocky Hill, Connecticut

Job Summary

AECOM’s NY Metro Transit/Rail Planning team is looking to hire an individual whose overall responsibilities include working with client agencies to develop and analyze rail service planning concepts as well as develop and analyze detailed rail operating plans (including development of timetables and equipment manipulations) in support of consultant assignments. Responsibilities will also include building a team to expand the NY Metro Transit/Rail Planning expertise; supporting new business development through industry and client outreach; and identifying new business opportunities and preparing responses to agency Requests for Proposals (RFPs). The Technical Director Rail Operations Planning will coordinate with transit/rail planning and engineering colleagues throughout the Eastern region.

This position’s responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Provide technical guidance for all rail service and operations planning assignments within NY Metro and New England

  • Provide technical guidance for rail service and operations planning assignments throughout the Eastern Region as appropriate

  • Provide technical guidance in evaluating the feasibility of establishing new services, rail routes, extensions, and stations

  • Develop rail service planning concepts, schedules, and related equipment manipulations/requirements in support of client assignments

  • Mentor and build a team of rail service planners

  • Participate in business development activities as appropriate

  • Draft a business plan for a rail service and operations planning practice within the NY Metro Transit/Rail Planning group

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 10 Years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

  • Rail Road Operations Experience​​​​​​​

Preferred Qualifications

  • Transportation Agency Experience
